Dr. Joep Crompvoets: Open data in a GIS-perspective
The main objective of this presentation is to make the audience aware of the strengths of using open data in the context of Geographical Information Systems (hereafter shortened as Open Geodata). The sub-objectives refer to the enhancement of the familiarity of the principles, policies, and economics related to Open Geodata. The presentation starts with providing some current examples that clearly illustrate the strengths of using Open Geodata at different administrative levels. These examples form the foundation for answering the following questions: What are Open Geodata? Who has Open Geodata? Can you license Open Geodata? What are the economic benefits of Open Data? And, what are the relevant Open Data Policies? The presentation is succeeded when the listed (sub-)objectives are achieved.
