Open Data Support: Bridging open data supply and demand in Europe
Governments around Europe are in the process of releasing huge amounts of data as open data. But the reuse of this data still remains below expectations. The Open Data Support project of DG CONNECT, presented in this session, aims to improve the visibility and facilitate the access to datasets published on local and national open data portals in order to increase their reuse within and across borders.
In order to achieve this, Open Data Supports puts in place a central repository that hosts description metadata of datasets from EU Member States and Institutions, harmonised according to the DCAT Application Profile for data portals in Europe. Hence, reusers can browse and access a wealth of datasets using a common vocabulary.
